The Philosophy of High-End Reporting: Capturing Moments, Not Fabricating People
The golden rule of great family photography is to let the event unfold naturally. At a private event, the photographer’s job isn’t to direct the proceedings or turn the celebration into a film set, but to be a sensitive and unobtrusive observer.
The value of the album you’ll look back on in 10, 20, or 40 years lies in those casual, fleeting moments of love and closeness:
— Mom’s heartfelt laughter during a toast;
— Grandpa’s firm, silent embrace;
— A child’s wide-eyed wonder as they gaze at the festive candles;
— A chance glance between lovers amidst the noisy celebration.
This report captures the atmosphere, the scents, and the energy of the day. When people forget the camera is there, they become their true selves. It is at that very moment that the timeless images of your family are born.
Technical Challenge: Photographing Temples and Intimate Restaurants in the Dark
Most major private events in Tbilisi and beyond take place under conditions that pose an insurmountable obstacle for amateur equipment or cell phones.
— The Sacrament of Baptism: Ancient Georgian churches and monasteries possess an incredible energy, but inside them there is a deep twilight, broken only by rays of sunlight streaming through narrow windows and the glow of candles.
— Intimate Dinners: Cozy restaurants and family-run taverns in Sololaki or Vera often use subdued, intimate lighting to set the mood.
Many photographers tackle this problem head-on—using a powerful on-camera flash “straight on.” This is guaranteed to kill all the mystery of the moment, making faces flat and white, and turning the background into a black void.
My approach is based on respect for the atmosphere of the place. Using fast, premium lenses and Canon full-frame systems allows me to work in extremely low-light conditions without using harsh flashes. We preserve the natural warmth of the candles, the texture of ancient stone, the haze of incense, and soft shadows. The process is quiet (thanks to the silent electronic shutter), so as not to distract the clergy or startle the child during the baptismal rite.
A Gentle Introduction: When I arrive at the venue, I spend the first 15 minutes getting to know the family, winning over the children, and becoming a “one of the family” figure at the celebration—someone they no longer feel shy around.
Capturing the Context and Details: Alongside the people, I photograph the material culture of your celebration: interior details, embroidery on the christening gown, antique icons, table settings, and family heirlooms.
Creating a chronicle of the day: The material is delivered as a complete story: from the details of the preparations and key moments of the event to the final candid portraits of each family member.
Multi-format: Vivid Memories in Photos + Video
A family photo essay becomes even more tangible when movement is added to still images. Alongside the main photo shoot, I capture short, aesthetically pleasing vertical videos in the Reels/Shorts format using a professional camera. The movement of hands, blowing out candles on a cake, a child’s first steps in the baptismal hall—these vivid micro-moments complement the photo session, allowing you to instantly share the day’s main vibe with loved ones who are in other cities or countries.

A legacy that will be left to our children
A professional family photographer isn’t just someone you hire for a couple of hours. They’re the person you trust to document your life’s story. High-quality documentary photography of a private event is an investment in your family’s emotional legacy — one that only grows more precious over time.
If you’re planning a christening in Georgia, an intimate wedding in Tbilisi’s Old Town, or a large, warm family anniversary, and you want to preserve this day in a flawless, honest, and dignified way — let’s work together. I guarantee the utmost discretion, attention to every guest, and world-class technical quality.
