1. Technical reliability and equipment class
Professional photography is a high-tech process where the cost of a mistake is too high (especially when covering an event that cannot be repeated). In the hands of a professional lies not just a camera, but an expensive professional system:
— Premium-class cameras: Using the latest generation of Canon EOS R-series full-frame mirrorless systems allows for shooting in Tbilisi’s most challenging lighting conditions (whether it’s dimly lit wine cellars, neon-lit halls at Fabrika, or harsh sunlight).
— Fast lenses: Commercial-grade lenses ensure flawless sharpness, accurate frame geometry (without distorting interior walls), and a high-end, “cinematic” look.
Every piece of equipment has a limited lifespan (shutter wear, battery life), which requires regular replacement. When you hire a professional, you’re paying for the assurance that their equipment won’t let you down when it matters most.
2. Behind-the-scenes work: the unseen 80% of the process
The one or two hours a photographer spends with you on location or in the studio are just the tip of the iceberg. The bulk of the work is hidden from the client’s view:
Production and Concept — Before the shoot begins, time is spent on a thorough analysis of your goals, selecting references, creating a mood board and timeline, choosing locations in Tbilisi, and finalizing the looks.
Technical selection and sorting — After the shoot, the photographer manually reviews hundreds or thousands of frames, weeding out technical flaws, closed eyes, and duplicates to create the perfect series.
Post-production — Work in licensed software for color correction, exposure balancing, manual adjustment of light and shadow, and natural, magazine-style skin retouching. This takes days of painstaking work.
3. Facilities, service, and experience
You’re not paying just to “press a button, ” but for a guaranteed and predictable result. An experienced photographer knows how to manage studio lighting of any complexity, how to lighten the mood on set, how to set up a tethered shoot directly to a laptop so you can monitor the process in real time, and how to help someone who has never stood in front of a camera with posing.
In addition, the price includes associated costs: subscriptions to professional software, cloud storage, maintenance of the gallery website, and taxes.
My Manifesto: Transparency and No “Surprises”
The Tbilisi market often suffers from price dumping, which often masks poor service or manipulation. It often goes like this: you’re quoted a low base rate per hour, but then it turns out you have to pay extra for source files, another 50% for quick turnaround, and if there are more than two people on the shoot, the rate doubles.
I am categorically opposed to such practices and base my work on the principles of transparency:
— Work strictly according to a contract (verbal or written). All terms, deadlines for delivering the material, the number of photos, and the final cost are set before work begins and do not change during the process.
— “All-inclusive” package rates. All prices are openly published on my website, wfolio. Each package already includes preparation, selection, color correction, and delivery of the material.
— No hidden fees. I do not charge extra for delivering the raw files (.jpg) if you need them, I do not charge extra based on the number of people at a corporate event, and I deliver the material strictly by the agreed-upon deadline without reminders. High-quality commercial or private photography is an investment.
For businesses, it pays off in increased sales, customer trust, and strong brand positioning. For private clients, it means absolute peace of mind, a comfortable experience on set, and photos that will remain in the family archive forever.
