The Architectural Context of Tbilisi: Choosing a Setting That Suits the Character
The secret to high-end street style lies in the synergy between your clothes and the city’s architectural geometry. Tbilisi can be revealed from completely different, unexpected angles:
— Minimalist urban (the vibe of Berlin or Copenhagen): If you’re drawn to the aesthetics of minimalism, brutalism, or Scandinavian style, we’ll head to the concrete textures of Saburtalo, modern glass facades, or industrial spaces in the Fabrika district. Against this backdrop, clean silhouettes, oversized pieces, monochromatic looks, and architectural cuts look great.
— Cinematic Lifestyle (Paris or Rome Vibe): The shady, quiet streets of Vera or the courtyards of Sololaki, hidden from tourist routes, are ideal for creating soft, elegant, and lively shots.
Old textured doors, wrought-iron grilles, vintage café windows, and the play of midday shadows create a deep, dimensional backdrop.
How the “paparazzi” effect is created: technical details
The biggest fear when shooting on location is feeling awkward under the camera’s gaze while passersby watch. Because of this, people tense up, start smiling unnaturally, and freeze in awkward poses.
To completely break down this barrier, I’ve radically changed my approach to the shooting process:
— Working with long-focus lenses: I don’t stand right in front of you with a huge camera. Using professional Canon telephoto lenses allows me to shoot from a great distance—from across the street, around a corner, or through the flow of passing cars. You physically stop noticing the camera, lose yourself in the rhythm of the city, and relax.
— Shooting exclusively on the move: We don’t stand still. You simply walk down the street, pop into a coffee shop, adjust your glasses, admire the architecture, or cross the street. The mirrorless system’s high-speed autofocus captures facial expressions, the wind blowing through your hair, and the dynamics of your stride with absolute commercial sharpness.
— Interactive posing on the go: You don’t have to worry about “where to put your hands.” Before the shoot, we discuss the general mechanics of movement, and during the process, I gently guide you, suggesting a walking pace and subtle accents that look great in the frame.
Styling Mood Board: We carefully curate your wardrobe for a specific itinerary. Your outfits should either contrast with the city or perfectly complement its color palette.
Dynamic Itinerary: We choose a time with the right, soft light (early morning or the pre-sunset “golden hour”) and set off on a walk through pre-planned locations.
Hybrid Content: Photos + Video: Alongside still shots, I shoot aesthetically pleasing vertical videos on the go. You receive not only photos but also ready-to-use, atmospheric Reels.
Practical Tips for the Perfect Street Style Look
To ensure your look remains cohesive and timeless for years to come, opt for simple, structured pieces:
— Volume and layers: Oversized trench coats, heavy coats, blazers with masculine shoulders, and loose bomber jackets create beautiful movement. As you walk, the fabric drapes beautifully and “breathes” within the frame.
— Accessories are everything: Sunglasses, quality footwear (such as minimalist skate sneakers or rugged boots), a voluminous scarf, a minimalist bag, or even a coffee cup in your hands. Accessories keep you engaged — you have something to interact with, and your hands subconsciously fall into natural poses.
— Avoid heavy retouching: Urban lifestyle demands authenticity. Skin texture, genuine emotions, and a touch of effortless nonchalance look far more sophisticated and stylish than artificial gloss.
