- Studios: Vangal, B& W, Mziani. These are reliable studios where I’ve shot before and would be happy to return to. They have great locations, equipment, and service. I didn’t include any others because I either haven’t shot there or didn’t like them. Unfortunately, the list of studios is short, since most of the studios in Tbilisi are virtually indistinguishable from one another.
- Lado Gudiashvili Street is the kind of place where a short stretch of road is packed with so many picturesque spots that you can go there just to spend an entire day taking photos. And photos taken on this street are instantly recognizable to seasoned photography enthusiasts.
- The closed entrance on Tabidze Street is a unique spot with an incredibly beautiful entrance that has also become a signature landmark of the Sololaki district. Due to its immense popularity and the steady stream of visitors, the entrance has been secured with a combination lock, but you can still get in if you know the right people.
- The Writers' House is a beautiful place to visit and photograph. The only thing is, you’ll need to make arrangements in advance if you want to take photos, but it’s definitely worth it. It’s one of those rare cases where a 19th-century interior doesn’t look dilapidated, but is so charming that you won’t want to leave.
- The Fabrika is perfect for fans of industrial style with plenty of graffiti. It’s now a hostel with a coworking space and a food court, but it used to be a garment factory. You may need to get permission for filming in advance.
- The Sololaki/Old Town area — it’s hard to single out just one specific spot, since there are so many charming places in this neighborhood where you can take photos. Some people go there just for photo walks, exploring the narrow streets of the old town while snapping pictures at interesting locations.
- The Didgori Monument is a highly recognizable landmark not only within Georgia but also beyond its borders. In short, it is an open space on the outskirts of the city featuring large swords protruding from the ground. It symbolizes a battle that took place in the past and is a truly captivating place that has served as an excellent filming location for several productions.
- The cable car on Rustaveli Street — if you’ve been to Tbilisi but haven’t visited this spot yet, I recommend going there not just for a photo shoot, but also to ride the cable car and see the city from above. The location itself has only recently become open to the public, and thanks to its beauty, it has become a favorite among both locals and visitors to our city.
- The Legvtahvevi (Fig) Gorge near the sulfur baths — you can take great photos right in the sulfur baths area, but if you want to capture shots of a beautiful gorge without spending a lot of time searching for a spot or traveling outside the city, you can find a beautiful gorge and waterfall right in the heart of the old town.
- The Stamba Hotel is a former printing house (hence the name). It’s located in the city center. In addition to the hotel itself — where you can wander through the lobby and browse a large collection of books, as well as shops selling books and souvenirs — there’s also an inner courtyard with a café where you can sit and have a meal. It’s tricky to take photos there — you definitely need to ask for permission first, as security will spot you on the cameras very quickly — but you can take as many photos as you like on your phone.
This isn’t a complete list of the places I’ve photographed and enjoyed, but this list is definitely worth checking out and taking some photos at.
